HANDICAP RULES 2014 - 2015
1. The member's Society Handicap at the first event in a calendar year or when joining, if later, should be equal to his Club (CONGU)handicap.
If the member does not have a Club handicap then his existing Society handicap carries over to the new year.
New members without a Club handicap will be given a handicap agreed with and allocated by the Captain or his nominee (this will be no greater than 24).
2. Handicaps will be adjusted during the year as follows:
After each Society event handicap cuts will be allocated as follows:
a) One shot cut for winning.
b) One shot cut for any score over 36 (or net par for the day)
c) Two shot cut for any score over 39
(i.e. any winner scoring 37 to 39 would suffer a cut of 2 shots or any winner scoring 40 or more would suffer a cut of 3 shots)
After each Society event handicap increases will be allocated as follows:
a) One shot increase for any score under 25 (One per year only)
NB. (1) A member's Society handicap must not be greater than his club handicap.
(2) A member's Society handicap will not be adjusted upwards during the year on account of a club handicap increase.
The Captain, at his discretion, is empowered to suspend any of the above rules given exceptional circumstances.
