Handicap Rules 2020

• The maximum handicap shall be 28
• The winner will be cut 3 shots
• Second place will be cut 2 shots
• Third place will be cut 1 shot
• The remainder of the players will be increased by 0.5.

Handicap Rules 2019

• The maximum handicap shall be 28
• Each player playing in a competition shall have his handicap increased by 0.5.
• Additionally:
  • The winner of a competition will have his handicap cut by 1
  • score of 0-28 points - increase of 1
  • score between 29 and 32 - no change.
  • score between 33 and 36 - cut by 1
  • score over 36 - cut by 2
• The captain and vice-captain may agree to adjust an individuals handicap based on their general standard of play

Handicap Rules 2018

• The starting H/C per individual is based upon calculations made by scrutinising the 2016 and 2017 handicaps and stableford scores then applying an adjustment factor to each individual h/c if necessary.
• The adjustment factor is applied on the basis that everyone’s h/c is raised by a minimum of 2 up to a maximum of 4 when compared to their finished h/c in 2017. The exception is that no-one can have a handicap greater than 28.
  • The STARTING 2018 H/C will not be less than the 2016/17 CALC H/C unless the 2016/17 CALC H/C is greater than 4 when compared with the 2017 END H/C.

Handicap Rules 2017

• The starting handicap for 2017 should be as it finished at the end of 2016
• 1st place gets a cut of 3 shots
• 2nd place gets a cut of 2 shots
• 3rd place gets a cut of 1 shot
• All other players get an increase of 0.5 (irrespective of their score)
• New members have to play in 3 events before they can qualify to win a top 3 prize. The captain and President will monitor new members to check that their stated handicap is appropriate and adjust as they think fit. They can however win TWOs or nearest the pin prizes.

Handicap Rules 2016

• The starting handicap for 2016 should be as it finished at the end of 2015.
• 1st place gets a cut of 3 shots
• 2nd place gets a cut of 2 shots
  • 3rd place gets a cut of 1 shot
  • Any player gets cut 0.5 for every point scored over 36. This cut is in addition to the cut for coming in the top 3. For example, if the winner gets 38 points, he gets cut 3 + 1 = 4 shots.
  • Any player (except the top 3) scoring less than 36 points gets an increase of 0.5 up to a maximum of 28
• New members without a Club handicap will be given a handicap agreed with and allocated by the Captain or his nominee (this will be no greater than 24).

HANDICAP RULES 2014 - 2015

1. The member's Society Handicap at the first event in a calendar year or when joining, if later, should be equal to his Club (CONGU)handicap.

If the member does not have a Club handicap then his existing Society handicap carries over to the new year.

New members without a Club handicap will be given a handicap agreed with and allocated by the Captain or his nominee (this will be no greater than 24).

2. Handicaps will be adjusted during the year as follows:

After each Society event handicap cuts will be allocated as follows:

a) One shot cut for winning.

b) One shot cut for any score over 36 (or net par for the day)

c) Two shot cut for any score over 39

(i.e. any winner scoring 37 to 39 would suffer a cut of 2 shots or any winner scoring 40 or more would suffer a cut of 3 shots)

After each Society event handicap increases will be allocated as follows:

a) One shot increase for any score under 25 (One per year only)

NB. (1) A member's Society handicap must not be greater than his club handicap.

(2) A member's Society handicap will not be adjusted upwards during the year on account of a club handicap increase.

The Captain, at his discretion, is empowered to suspend any of the above rules given exceptional circumstances.
