Coaver Club Golf Society AGM
Held 20 January 2016
Present:
Trevor Pugsley, Ginger Walker, Dave Haizelden, Neil A'Court, Ray Davies, Geoff Smyth, Nev Taylor.
Captains Report
Ginger thanked everyone for all of the support he received over the year and for the £775 raised for the Wallace & Gromit's Children's Charity at the Bristol Children's Hospital.
Treasurer's Report
Neil reported that the finances were above ground.
Election of Officers
Subscriptions
It was agreed that the annual membership should remain at £20 per year.
2 members who were not present thought that the cost of each event should be dropped to £30, This was unanimously rejected in favour of keeping the fee at £35 per meeting as anything less would not be sustainable.
It was also agreed to keep the guest fee at £40 for up to 3 meetings per year, after which the guest must join as a member to play in future events.
Any Other Business
Limit on location of future fixtures
Trevor reported that some members were not happy at having to travel too far to venues. They thought that Yelverton was too far and that courses should be closer to Exeter. This was agreed except for Trethorne as a special case.
Sponsorship
A discussion took place on event sponsors and trophies.
It was agreed that where a trophy was bought last season that at the equivalent event in 2016 that the trophy will be presented to the winner and the sponsor will donate £25 for 2nd and 3rd places.
For events without a trophy that the sponsor should donate £50 for prizes.
Eating venue following Dawlish meeting
It was agreed to eat at the Devon Motel after the Dawlish event in January instead of the Dolphin at Kenton.
Handicap System
Dave Haizelden proposed a new handicap system which was agreed.
The system is as follows:
The starting handicap for 2016 should be as it finished at the end of 2015.
New members without a Club handicap will be given a handicap agreed with and allocated by the Captain or his nominee (this will be no greater than 24).
