Present: Ray Davies, Trevor Pugsley, Terry Coldridge, Nev Taylor, Kelvin Curtis, Tom Evans, Rich Luke, Bob Jones, Dave Haizelden
Apologies: Neil A'Court, Ginger Walker, Aaron Haizelden
Outgoing Captain: Nev thanked everyone for their support during the year and for the £581.37 donated to The Alzheimer's Society raised from Fines. He welcomed the incoming captain, Terry Coldridge and wished him well for his year.
Incoming Captain: Terry announced that Bob Jones will be his vice-captain. He thanked Neil for arranging the fixtures for the forthcoming year.
Geoff Smyth requested that we encourage people to pick up their ball when they can no longer score on a hole to speed up play. This was agreed by all present.
New Rules: It was agreed that as a society we will adopt the new local rule where a ball that is out of bounds or lost, another ball may be dropped on the nearest point on the fairway, no nearer the hole than where the ball is thought to be under a 2 shot penalty.
Handicaps: After a long discussion, it was agreed that the handicap adjustments for 2019 will be as follows:
Finances - there is about £200 in the club funds.
2018 scoring: There was a discussion that we only took the best 5 stableford results albeit due to adverse weather conditions. It was mentioned by Bob Jones in particular and agreed by others that as the playing conditions were the same for each player then we should have included all the games as part of the race to the warren despite being temp greens or less that 18 holes played. It was agreed that the early part of last seasons adverse weather was a rare situation.
Fines: Some members have reported they are unhappy with the fines. However, those present at the AGM agreed that it is an entertaining part of a society day and as we raise a lot of money for worthwhile charities, fines should continue. Mike Collins was thanked in his absence for the work he puts into judging and fining.
Sponsorship: It was agreed that sponsorship should rise to £30 per event to allow 1st place to receive a cash prize where in the past cash was only awarded to 2nd and 3rd with only a trophy for 1st. The sponsor is also at liberty to to provide other prizes on the day as he sees fit.
Prizes will be:
There was some discussion that perhaps instead of having sponsors that we charge everyone £40 per meeting, the extra £5 including the £1 for twos, £1 for staff tip and the other £3 to go towards the prizes.
It was agreed to keep the fee per meeting to £35 as it was thought, by Trevor in particular, that £40 be seen as too expensive and would push some players into playing for other societies instead.
Groups: Terry will endeavour during the season to get everyone to play with everyone else.
Meeting closed at 20:00hrs
